Autumn Oak Leaf video and PDF tutorials

Just before I set off to West Dean College to teach a residential course on Autumn Colours, here is an oak leaf watercolour tutorial.

The base colour is Nickel Azo Yellow (Daniel Smith), a beautiful golden, slightly muted yellow that is perfect for autumn foliage. Here is an affiliate link if you want to have a try. I really like the fact that although it is not an extremely blindingly saturated pigment, it still has luminosity to it. In the same way that autumn leaves might not be the brightest colours but they still find a way to glow in the sunlight.

My Patreon subscribers already have 3 draw-along/ paint-along videos of this tutorial, but I also made a shorter 12 minutes version for my free YouTube channel. I also listed a written version as a downloadable PDF in my online Etsy shop here. You can download the PDF tutorial for free directly on my Patreon site if you already are a subscriber or if you subscribe before the 25th of October. So if you already are or planning to be, don’t buy it on Etsy!

Here is the YouTube version of the tutorial:

Happy painting!
