The Artists & Illustrators Magazine May issue is out!
I have another article in there, and this time it’s not about botanical art: it’s called “The Ethical Artist” and it’s about looking at where our art materials come from and what they are made off.
I did quite a bit of research and got in touch with lots of manufacturers, who were all forthcoming with their info, so there will be more blog posts about the results. For example, I tested a dozen different synthetic brushes (not being a fan of sable fur farms…) and found some treasures I need to tell you about.
In the meanwhile, I hope you enjoy the A&I article… Here is the first page.
Happy reading!
Looking forward to that information as I am on the lookout for some new brushes myself. Love your book.

Great! Is it urgent? It might take me a while to review all of them… But if you tell me which kind of brush you like (stiff or floppy, scratchy or soft, carrying lots of water or not, long-haired or short-haired) I can recommend one here…

The beautiful pillow cover came & I love it!! I bought a nice insert for it & is a spectacular design element in the bedroom. Your paintings are on both sides & the quality is outstanding (very well made zipper, fabric, print). We will enjoy this for a lifetime <3.

Love your work! I am not able to find a copy of the 2017 article. Can you recommend a stiffer brush that holds a lot of water. What brushes are you using in the sunflower painting on youtube?

Hello, I mainly use ProArte Prolene + Plus 007. It’s a great brush with enough spring and well balanced in the hand.

Thanks. I will give it a try.
